Excuses excuses…

I have been on vacation for almost 2 weeks.

It started a couple Wednesdays ago when my husband and I flew into Ft. Lauderdale for his comedy gig in West Palm Beach, FL.  The gigs were Thursday-Sunday, and in between, we visited family.  (We both have family in South Florida.)  We were there from Wednesday til Monday.

On Monday, we drove to Miami for fun, and stayed there til Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, we left Miami and drove north all day across the state to Ocala, FL.  Our destination was actually Old Town, FL, near Gainesville, to visit my favorite Uncle and Aunt (they live in the boondox), but we spent the night in Ocala, and continued on our way to Old Town Wednesday morning.

When we got there on Wednesday (first day of 52DC), they fed us an amazing homecooked Southern meal that couldn’t be refused since they went out of their way to buy and prepare it for us.  We stayed until Wednesday/Thursday 12am.

On Wednesday/Thursday 12am, we drove 3 hours to Orlando to catch an early morning Thursday flight, final destination being Sun Valley, ID.

On Thursday, we had 3 stops: Orlando to Atlanta to Salt Lake City to Boise.  Being in airports all day, we lived on Airport Food, and I did not eat clean.  (52DC Day 2)

We then drove 3 hours from Boise to Sun Valley.  (Again, road trip food consisted of McDonald’s french fries to help with the nausea.)  My hubby had more comedy gigs in Sun Valley, and since it’s also Valentine’s day weekend, we decided to make a vacation of it with two of our really good friends (another couple).  The guy is a fellow comedian.

If you’ve read this far, you will see that we’ve been ON THE RUN!!  We hardly slept Wednesday OR Thursday due to traveling and visiting with family, and we suffered from major jetlag.

By Thursday evening, we were zombies.  However, I got great sleep finally on Thursday night, and Friday the 13th was our first well rested day and the FIRST day I actually did anything to work toward my 52DC goals.  (52DC Day 3)  I had 1 clean eat and 1 cardio training.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and again I’m purposely not doing anything towards my goals, especially with all the Valentine’s Chocolates and yummy dinners.  Also, we don’t want to exercise today because we don’t have time.  We’d rather enjoy all the beautiful sights here in Sun Valley.

So that’s where I am now, and it is beautiful!!  But… I can’t wait to get serious and start kicking serious a$$ starting Monday after all the traveling is said and done. =)

Day 2 - 2/13/09

Thanks Skycabin for hosting yesterday, and Superpup for your encouragement. And thank you Connormc for your lead today.I have no results to be proud of yet because I’m on vacation, but I am planning to start SOMEthing today, whether it’s 1 clean eat or some cardio.

CE: 0/4/80
RT: 0/14
CT: 0/11

PG1: 0/7 yoga
PG2: ??? - weigh 125lbs
PG3: Don’t miss work.

AOTD:
My secret to getting back on track is to think small… do something small and tangible when I’m feeling my laziest, like walk around the block. I try to keep the “Just for Today” mentality so I don’t get overwhelmed, because it’s when I get overwhelmed that I tend to give up.

Day 1 - 2/12/09

I’m having a rocky start… I’m on vacation for Valentine’s day!! And yesterday I didn’t have internet access, so I didn’t post my results. Also… lots of bad eating, and no exercise. But I made sure to take that into consideration when I set my goals. So here are my measly results:

CE: 0/2/80

RT: 0/14CT: 0/11

PG#1: Yoga at least 7 times at any time during the whole challenge. I could do it & get it over with in the first 7 days if I want.

PG#2: Weigh 125lbs or less.

PG#3: Don’t miss a day of work.

Of all the goals, I think I’d like to meet the cardio goal. Cardio is very hard for me when I don’t do it, but when I DO it, I love it. So if I can keep on track with it during this challenge, it will be fun for me and not such a drag.

Day 1 - Introductions

Hello All!
I am a 29y/o named Jessica, and I live in Manhattan Beach, CA… where everyone but me looks like they just walked out of a fitness magazine. I am 5′5&3/4″ and 138lbs. I would really love to weigh 115lbs, but my goal for the end of the challenge is 125lbs. I just got married in August, and have been eating everything in sight. Obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, and diabetes runs in my family.
My mom had the gastric bypass a couple years ago, and just recently went through the skin removal surgery that goes with it. She’s been in excruciating pain, and I don’t want to end up ever having to go through this.
I hope this 52DC will help me to be healthier, in shape, and have a rockin’ body. I’ve never had a six pack and I want one before I’m 30 (December). I want to look AMAZING in a bikini. I want my clothes to fit because times are tough and I can’t afford new ones right now. And I need to learn to develop good eating and exercise habits before I have babies in like 4 or 5 years, or I’m going to get really, really obese like my mom did when she got pregnant with me.
I need to work on my willpower and consistency, and I am hoping and praying that this forum and the 52DC can help. I’m excited to make new friends, and not only receive help, but eventually bring something useful to the table. This is my first challenge.
Thanks to everyone who is organizing everything and making this possible for everyone.

Dear Everybody:

Good luck to everyone on the 52DC starting February 11th!!! (uhhh, today)  I’m on the East Coast, so it is 12:00am.

I’m on vacation right now… in about a week’s time, I’ve accomplished some amazing goals, and have also fallen off the wagon.

Last week, I ran in my first race.  10k in 1:09!

…But, then, because I ran that race, my crazy brain kept telling myself, “Well, you ran 6 miles.  You can eat this!  You can eat that!”  And so I’ve been eating EVERYTHING since the race.  I mean, in the grossest way.  I’ve had a slice of pie every day for the past, like, 4 days.  AWFUL!  And, I’ve been eating white rice, bread and butter, and strawberry crepes from IHOP.  My pants don’t fit like they did 2 weeks ago.  ALL that hard work for NOTHING!  It’s weird how doing something great for myself (running my first race) has led me to such a disaster.  So, I am hoping and praying that this 52DC will get my a$$ back on the right track.  I’ll still be on vacation when it starts, but nonetheless, I am going to stick to my goals.  And luckily, when I originally set my goals, I had this vacation in mind, so I gave myself extra eating days.

I think another reason why I fell off the deep end food-wise is because I knew the 52DC was just around the corner, and I knew I would be eating healthy.  So I pigged out as much as I could.  Ugh.  I really have a serious food problem.  I LOVE foooood!  I love sweeeeets!  But I love being in shape more, so thank you 52DC!  Let’s get it started!

As a (Wo)man [Eats] Within, So is S(he).

This is what I ate so far today:

About a cup of oatmeal with about a tbsp of peanut butter, a whole banana, and raisins; 2 hard boil egg whites

jasmine green tea with fat free milk and honey

A small bowl of salad with feta cheese, pecans, and grapes; about a cup  of chicken noodle soup.

pg tips tea with fat free milk and honey

6oz salmon with mango salsa on top, about a cup and a half of steamed cauliflower, about 10 steamed asparagus, a hard boiled egg white, about 1/4 cup of chickpeas & 1/4 cup of corn mixed together, 1/4 of dill pickle spear, 5 strawberries

2 dark chocolate covered strawberries

pg tips tea with honey and fat free milk

half a banana sandwich with 2 tbsp of peanut butter and a slight drizzle of honey

AND I’M STILL HUNGRY!  This seems like a lot of food, but it really wasn’t.  Please let me know what I should have cut out.  Or if it’s an ok amount of food in one day.  I’m having the feeling it’s wayyy too much.  I feel really FAT today.

Crash & Burn

I really just did something soooo retarded.  It is 10:25pm and I ate 2 big ol’ bowls of jambalaya!!  My mom made it for Christmas and I put it in the freezer and some evil demon made me thaw it out and nuke it and boy was it devilishly delicious.  My stomach feels like I swallowed a baby.  Why did I do this?  I think because I biked for 20 miles yesterday, and when I woke up this morning I was down to 133.4 pounds.  Geez how weak am I!?!?  Where is my willpower!?!?  I finally lost a few pounds and look what I do!  Ughhhh I’m mad at myself.  Tomorrow I am going to have a perfect eating day.  I need to pray more cause obviously this is out of my control.  I need help from God; I can’t do this alone!!
